Why should I use Evernote?

In our previous blog post (link to post) we talked about apps that are great for on the go note taking. We mentioned the Notes app that comes standard on iOS, as well as Evernote, ColorNote, and OneNote. Today we are going to expand upon one of those apps, Evernote.

Living our lives on the go like so many of us do going from meeting to events to home life, it is necessary to have a good place to store all of the information that we need. Some of us prefer the old pen and paper method, but the reality is that it is hard to keep track of that. Most of us have a smart phone and there are a myriad of apps that can help us stay organized and on top of our busy lives.

Today we are going to focus on the app Evernote.

Evernote is a cross-platform app which that in itself is a huge draw to some. A cross-platform app simply means that it can be use on multiple platforms. Evernote works on Microsoft Windows, OS X, Chrome OS, Android, BlackBerry OS, and many more. Essentially, Evernote is easily accessible. Even better than the fact that it is a cross-platform app, it is free! There are options for paid services as well with their premium service.

Evernote is also a very easy to use app that can be used as your note-taking tool for school or meetings, as a daily journal, a recipe tracker, task or project management system, and so much more. Essentially Evernote can streamline your life.

Enough about the amazing perks, below are 5 of our favorite tips to keep you organized and on task with Evernote.

1) The Web Clipper tool

-With the Web Clipper tool you can customize what part of the webpage you want to save, not just the URL (although you can save that as well if you would like).

2) You can tag your voice memos

-Voice memos are great for on the go note taking especially when you are unable to sit down and write out your notes. With Evernotes tagging options you can record a business meeting, conference call, lecture, or just a normal grocery store memo and tag it for easy finding in the future.

3) Manage all of your great ideas

-We are a visual species. We are drawn to things that catch our eye. Evernote allows you to tag a photo and give it a title and notes for those moments when you are inspired by something you saw or if you need to take a picture of notes for class.

4) Shared notebooks

-Evernote has this great option that makes sharing your notes very easy. This is great to use for clients and class mates, especially if you are working on a project.

5) Digitize documents or receipts

-Take a photo of receipts and documents and store them in a folder. This can make tax time easier and with Evernote’s great tagging system you are able to locate and recall any document you may need.

These are just a few tips and tricks that Evernote is capable of. There are a lot of great apps on the market and many that will suit your needs just fine, but if you are looking for an app that can handle multiple tasks, photos, documents, and help you keep your life organized, seek out more information on Evernote!
